GABBF Bands

Every year, a selection of bands are selected to participate in the annual festival with the thought of trying to achieve balance and diversity. The actual number of participating bands increases with each festival. The first festival featured only eight bands, however, at present times that number has more than doubled.

The festival features the whole spectrum of brass bands including Civil War bands, Salvation Army bands, ragtime, jazz, New Orleans funeral bands, turn-of-the-century town bands, British-styled bands, brass ensembles and circus bands.

The participating bands come from all over the world to play in this three-day brass band extravaganza. They have hailed from cities all over the U.S. as well as other countries such as England and Canada.

The festival's host band is Danville's own Advocate Brass Band.
