Munich Trumpet Ensemble

Festival-goers are in for a real treat when the 10 members of the Trumpet Ensemble of the Richard-Strauss-Conservatory Munich play. The students in the trumpet class of Wolfgang Guggenberger come from all over Germany to attend a school that is comparable to Juilliard School as they study to be professional musicians.
Intensive chamber-music training phases take place at regular intervals in which changing concert programs are prepared. Its repertoire extends from the Renaissance to the present day and is oriented towards the pedagogical goal of making the students familiar with as large variety of musical styles as possible. The group plays regularly concerts in Germany and has appeared in festivals in Italy and France. In 2000 and 2001 it performed in the opening concerts of the Trumpet Festival of the Euro-ITG in Bad Säckingen.
Vince DiMartino, Centre College trumpet professor, says he is familiar with the group from the European Trumpet Guild Conference in Bad Säckingen .
"The director is a wonderful. He has recordings out that are some of the best recordings I've ever heard."
The students are equally talented, he says.
"The students are from throughout Germany and they are the finest students from the different areas of Germany."
