Antiques will fit every budget

Antique lovers don’t have to empty their pockets when they check out offerings from across the country at the Danville Antique and Garden Show during the Brass Band Festival.

“We’ll have something for every budget,” said Julie Wagner, executive director of the Heart of Danville.

The show began in 1995, though it went on a hiatus for a few years. Now, the festival attracts dealers from across the country. “We think it’s a good complement to the Brass Band Festival,” Wagner said.

Dealers specializing in vintage posters, Americana, Civil War memorabilia, jewelry, silver, dishes and garden accessories all will be part of the show.

Wagner said many people look forward to the show each year. “We really have a strong local support base, and people come from all over for this,” she said.

The show serves as the primary fund-raiser for the Heart of Danville, a group that promotes the renovation and revitalization of downtown Danville. Using the antique show as a fund-raiser keeps the organization running smoothly, Wagner said.

“We’d rather get money from this and have the rest of our events free than nickel-and-dime everyone to death,” she said.

The antique show will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Combs Center at Centre College. Admission is $5 all weekend. A private antiques preview party will be held 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets for the party are $30 per person. For reservations to the party or questions about the show, call the Heart of Danville at (859) 236-1909.

Dealers participating in the show include: American Eagle of Harrison, Mich.; Chestnut Galleries of Spartanburg, S.C.; Christopher Robin Allen Antiques of Durham, N.C.; Cinnamon Hill of Nashville, Tenn.; Copper Garden of Lexington; Dana Kelly Oriental Rugs of Lexington; Davis-O’Reilly Antiques of Northport., Ala.; Dover House Antiques of Louisville; Drackett Designs of Cincinnati; Emily Dearman Antiques and Accents of Montgomery, Ala.; Flo Deer of Little Rock, Ark., Joseph McDonough Fine Art of Atlanta; Kentucky Sandpiper of Russellville; LaPoma and LaPoma of Franklin; Lina’s Interiors of Greenville, Miss.; Miller, Hamilton, & Co. of Chapel Hill, N.C.; Nettie Jarvis Antiques of Bloomfield; Shelton Gallery of Nashville, Tenn.; Sue Robinette of Louisville; Susie Crowfoot of Lakeville, Ind.; and Voyeges en France, owned by Betsy Wilt, of Danville.
