Stop and smell the roses

The Bluegrass Rose Society will hold its annual rose show during the Brass Band Festival this year at the Norton Center for the Arts lobby.

Exhibits for the show will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. The lobby will be closed to the public from 10 a.m. to noon for judging, and then it will reopen until 5 p.m. for public viewing.

The roses will be judged by Monte Justice of Louisville. Justice has a fertilizer called Monte's Joy Juice that is sold in many local stores. Anyone is welcome to exhibit.

``We expect anywhere from 10 to 15 exhibits,'' said coordinator Nancy Estes.

After the roses are judged, small keepsake prizes will be given away along with ribbons for different categories of roses.
