Festival Brass emerged in 1995 almost by accident. A request was received for a small brass group to lead worship at a Salvation Army center in London. Appearing that weekend under the Festival Brass name, it was decided that the group would continue to perform and engagements soon were sought.

The group's objective is to meet together as friends, to make music, and then to share music making and Christian witness. The group does not meet for regular rehearsals but comes together for performances. All the musicians attend Salvation Army worship centers and are members of their local Salvation Army bands. The group has performed throughout England establishing a reputation for quality Christian music.

The group was the brain child of, and continues to be led by Julia Bright.
Bright leads a 55-member choir at The Peterborough Citadel corps of The
Salvation Army. He was financial consultant for five years for The International Staff Band and continues to be in demand as a soloist, conductor, speaker and leader of summer music schools.

The group has 14 instrumentalists, including music students, professional
musicians, teachers, an engineer, an accountant and various sales professionals.
