Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet BandSince its rebirth in 1972, Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band has been committed to providing family entertainment. Unlike the town band from Lynchburg, Tenn., heard over 100 years ago, the notoriety of today's band extends from coast to coast. They have performed on NBC's Today Show, CBS This Morning and several PBS specials. They have played at Disneyland, Lincoln Center and the White House. The original band played in the town of Lynchburg, Tenn., from 1892 to 1915. In 1972, Dave Fulmer saw a faded photograph of the band, and decided to re-create a form of musical Americana that no longer exists. Mr. Jack Daniel's Original Silver Cornet Band is composed of 12 musicians. The original band, made up of citizens such as the banker, the hardware clerk and workers in Daniel's distillery, played from a gazebo in the courthouse square. Fulmer enlisted the help of California arranger and composer Greig McRitchie, and they found the musicians necessary to revive the band. In 1990 and 1991, McRitchie did the orchestrations for ``Dances with Wolves, ``Red October'' and ``Glory.'' This group, led by conductor Marcus Arnold, tours across the United States, including such stops as the Medford, Ore., Jazz Festival and the Sacramento Jazz Festival. |
