Brass Band festival includes two contestsTwo contests will be part of the Great American Brass Band Festival. One is "Making Brass Band Memories." The Boyle County resident who brings in the most friends or family from out of town for the festival is the winner. Contenders for the award must show up, with their whole crew in tow, at the souvenir tent between 4 and 6 p.m. June 14. Visitors must show driver's licenses to prove they have traveled to the event. Winners receive a "Making Brass Band Memories" prize pack consisting of 10 lawn chairs, a gas grill, a cooler full of snacks and goodies, a bunch of disposable cameras, and 10 souvenir T-shirts. A photo contest, co-sponsored by The Advocate-Messenger and The Idea Farm, also will be held. People can submit photos for up to two weeks following this year's festival, with the winner to be determined by a panel of judges. The winner's photo would be guaranteed to be featured prominently in next year's promotional materials. The winner and two runners-up win a poster, T-shirt and pin from this year's festival.
