Canadian Staff Band of the Salvation ArmyThe Canadian Staff Band of the Salvation Army is comprised of 32 members, a bandmaster and an executive officer. Bandmaster Brian Burditt is a charter member of the Canadian Staff Band. Lt. Col. Donald Copple is the executive officer. Band members are either full-time officers or employees of the Salvation Army working at the Territorial Headquarters and other Salvation Army facilities or selected bandsmen drawn from various corps bands that are located within easy access of Toronto. The band campaigns in corps around Canada and the United States once a month, seven months a year. It also undertakes extended tours throughout North America. The band has performed in England in 1979 and again in 1983, Europe in 1979, and Australia and New Zealand in 1985. July of 1997 saw them in Brazil. Engagements in the United States have included the Tournament of Roses parade in 1993-94. Bandsmen have a variety of occupations including sales managers, university
students, teachers, insurance agents and an instrument repair technician. |
