Canadian Brass

The Washington Post has called it ``one of the world's great ensembles.'' And The Canadian Brass will bring its extraordinary sound to this year's Great American Brass Band Festival.

The first chamber ensemble to tour the People's Republic of China, the group gives over 100 performances in North America each year, performing coast to coast at such major halls as New York's Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The group also has appeared in Europe, Japan, Australia, the Middle East and the Soviet Union.

Five virtuoso musicians make up the Canadian Brass: Frederic Mills and Ronald Romm, trumpets; David Ohanian, French horn; Eugene Watts, trombone; and Charles Daellenbach, tuba. They perform everything from Bach and Mozart to Gershwin and Dixieland.

The ensemble also has made more than 30 albums and has appeared on several television programs, including ``The Tonight Show'' with Johnny Carson and ``The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.''
