Band History Conference

The 2009 Band History Conference celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the GABBF and the close connection the Conference has had with the festival. Sessions will include lecture, film and performances from famous conductors, music historians and performers.
In addition, participants have the opportunity to interact with the world-renowned presenters and performers in attendance. Papers will range in topic from Revolutionary War bands to the marches of John Philip Sousa and E.F. Goldman to the Golden Age of American bands at the time of Jules Levy and Patrick Gilmore. The topics chosen will offer the widest appeal from the specialist scholar to the average layman.

Performances

Performances will include the U.S. Army “Pershing’s Own” Herald Trumpets in a spectacular multi-media event telling their service to the nation, as well as the famous Terry Everson, internationally renowned trumpet soloist.

Master Clinic with Rhythm & Brass

9-10:30 a.m. Danville High School
Plan to join Rhythm & Brass, for a free clinic on brass technique and musicianship. Bring your instrument, music you are currently working on, and come prepared to learn from one of our country's renowned performing groups. Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba and Percussion break-out sessions.
The Master Clinic is for musicians and music lovers of all ages and performance levels. Sponsored in part by Kentucky Music Educators Association.
