“The Band and the Classics” presentations will focus on the role brass and wind bands have played in making art music/classical music more accessible to the general public through the use of transcribing classical works from orchestral scores to brass and wind scores, and through the commissioning of music written by outstanding classical composers for brass and wind bands. Cultural history music literature, music history best performance practices, and related sociological aspects, as well as score/musical analysis, will be the primary areas of discussion. Join national leaders in music education for presentations punctuated with performances by world-class bands and internationally known musicians.
