THE BANDS-2002

Advocate Brass Band:  The hometown band made up of top amateur and professional Kentucky musicians is the festival's host ensemble.

202nd Army Band: This Frankfort-based band of the Kentucky Army National Guard adds its spirited music to the patriotic atmosphere of the festival.

Band of the Air Force ReserveHeadquartered at Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia, this group is recognized around the world as one of the United States' finest military bands.

U.S. Marine Band Brass Quintet:  
From Washington, DC, five members of the President's Own United States Marine Band join together to create this outstanding ensemble.

Capt. Dennis R. Burian
Guest Conductor, Mr. Burian served as the Assistant Conductor for the United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C.

Cincinnati Brass Band:  Attending the festival for the first time, this highly successful ensemble has been acclaimed as one of America's top British style Brass Bands.

Circle City Sidewalk Stompers:  Fun, fun, fun surrounds this popular clown band from Indianapolis. Many have seen this fun group at the Indiana Pacers games performing!

The Disneyland Band: A real thrill to have the main Disney band performing for the festival. Even Mickey will get excited about this one!

Dixie Express: The United States Air Force Reserve Dixie Express returns to Danville as a five-piece ensemble that features the sounds of traditional jazz with a New Orleans-revival flavor.

Dixie Power Trio:  This hot and funky New Orleans style jazz band has received standing ovations at its previous festival appearances.

Eighth Regiment Band:  From Rome, GA, this band performs actual period arrangements on antique instruments to recreate the sound of bands from the American Civil War period.

Euphouria:  From  Cookeville, TN, this tuba/euphonium quartet brings its entertaining sound ot the festival a repeat visit.

Scott Kirby:  One of the premiere ragtime pianists in the country.  Scott is always a favorite whether on the street or on the stage performing!

Main Street Brass:  From Cynthiana, Kentucky, this popular band returns for its ninth festival appearance and features a mix of patriotic, pop, show tunes and old favorite standards.

Millennium Brass:  This exciting brass quintet brings together five of America's greatest brass virtuoso performers.

Munich Trumpet Ensemble:  From Munich, Germany this highly regarded 11 piece trumpet ensemble brings to the festival a rich and noble sound.

Musikverein Herforst 1933 e.V.:  Returning to the festival for a repeat performance, this town band was a hit at the 2000 festival.

New Columbian Wind Band:  Drawing its members from the ranks of top professionals throughout the country, the band will explore the unique collection of early band music in the Jullien project.

Olde Towne Brass:  From Huntsville, Alabama, the band performs on period instruments in authentic Civil War uniforms to recapture the sounds of the 1860s.

Olympia Brass Band:  The closing band at the Saturday night picnic, the New Orleans' best know brass band has belted out its unique brand of traditional jazz at every Great American  Brass Band Festival.

Daniel Rodriguez: New York City's famous "singing policeman" will be featured in a special "Celebrate America" festival grande finale performance.

Southern Territorial Band of the Salvation Army: Making a return visit to the festival, this splendid Salvation Army band comes from Atlanta, Georgia.  Always a favorite during the festival and at the Ecumenical church service on Sunday morning.

St. James Tripolians Steel Orchestra:  Coming from the West Indies, one of Trinidad's most popular steel drum bands will bring an exciting and unique international flavor to the the festival.

The Wheelmen will be back again this year. These antique bicycle enthusiasts lend a colorful, nostalgic air to the festival on their high wheel bicycles.
